Chapter Four

Puchiko: ::Wakes up:: Huh? Oh, Welcome to chapter four of The Happening Dog!

Sherrie: And it took you HOW many months to write this up?!

Puchiko: But, but, the TV! It calls to me!

Sherrie: ::mumble:: idiot

Puchiko: What did you say?! ::attacks::

Random Person: Ugh… lets just get onto the story ok?!

Chapter 4, Carry My Soul

Sherrie quickly tried to turn her body to the direction of the edge of the cliff. She twisted her foot in the process, but she managed to grab on to the rough edge of the cliff “H-Help!!” She blurted out softly, shaking with fear.

Catcher turned around with a jolt and pulled Sherrie up by the arms. Catcher and Sherrie both fell back on a nearby grassy area, exhausted from the almost fatal accident. Catcher held her arms a few minutes more, and then let them drop.

“Are you all right?” Catcher looked at her to see if she was bleeding.

Sherrie started to stand up “I guess s- AH!” She collapsed to the ground once more “Oww… my foot…!!” She caressed her injury and closed her eyes ‘I just want to go home and everything be normal again…’ She thought as she noticed Catcher in deep thought.

“You’re going to fry your brain like that” Sherrie joked trying to crack a smile.

Catcher continued to think and after what seemed like an hour to Sherrie, Catcher finally jumped up with an idea.

“I’ll Carry you, okay?” Catcher said, already crouching down and holding out his hands for Sherrie to climb on. Sherrie crawled over a few steps, but then paused. She had hardly known him for a day and yet he was treating her as if they were best friends. The whole situation baffled her, but before she could think anymore Catcher gently started to lift her up and directed his body north.

“Where are we going?!” Sherrie said, starting to panic. Thoughts of horror ran though her mind ‘Oh my gosh, don’t tell me he’s an alien here to abduct me!! Crap! Now I’m defenseless! If only I brought my pepper spray…’

“Just wanted to take a quick stop to my favorite place on Earth” He smiled at the view ahead of him. The sunset was still lingering on the edge of the lake as the birds raced through the fading orb of sunlight. It was the portrait of freedom, what any animal could wish for. Sherrie looked around her in awe, she wondered why a place that beautiful wasn’t inhabited by people on the edge of the reflected night sky water.

“Where is this…? Wait, scratch that- Where are WE?!” Sherrie said, still paranoid of her alien hypothesis.

Catcher lifted his finger and directed it northeast to where a little light was just barely visible.

“What’s that?” Sherrie asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Your house and this place is what I now call home” Catcher smiled, the park was just a minutes walk away, which was another one of his favorite places, since people would always pass by to pet him when he was in his dog form.

Sherrie stared at the light for awhile and then fell of Catcher’s back in realization “AHH!! THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS TOMORROW!!”

“School?” Catcher cocked his head to the side.

“Yes!! And if I don’t get to my house soon enough then I’ll be totally unprepared!”

Catcher’s eyes brightened up with curiosity and excitement “Can I come? Please!”

Sherrie frowned at the sight of Catcher’s happiness, she knew that there was no way, that in either form, would be allowed in her house and there would be too many questions that would shoot at him at school, but Sherrie knew that a friend could really bring her some joy, especially someone like Catcher.

Sherrie sighed, but then taped her chin with an idea “Unless…”

Chapter 4, end

Puchiko: MUHAH! Another cliffhanger.. Yeah. Don’t worry, it’ll be worth the wait, since a antagonist will show up!

Sherrie: Whaat? An antagonist! You’re so mean to me.

Catcher: *tail droops* Is he/she going to bother me?

Puchiko: Heh heh… I guess time will tell now WON’T it

Random Person: Umm yeah, stay tuned for Chapter 5 of the Happening Dog

Chapter Three

Puchiko: Hello and welcome to chapter 3 of "The Happening Dog"!

Sherrie: How you didn’t make any mistakes this time!

Puchiko: *mocks*

Sherrie: H-Hey! I was complimenting you!

Puchiko: Well too bad, it’s time for chapter 3 now anyways.

Chapter 3, My Changing Heart

A bright light dimmed in a thick forest. As the light dimmed out, the last bit of light shined on two faces, Sherrie and Catcher’s. It was clearly visible that Sherrie’s jaw was about to snap off her face in shock.

"What… what ARE you?!", Sherrie asked Catcher with a shaky voice.

As if it were a reply, Catcher’s forehead, where the butterfly net shape was, engulfed his body in light. A short time passed and yet again the light dimmed off again, but this time Catcher’s face wasn’t one of a fuzzy dog’s.

Sherrie shrieked loud enough in hope that someone would hear her. Her scream wasn’t only in fright of the boy that stood in place of where Catcher was sitting previously, but in fright of the boy that had absolutely no clothes on.

Although she was frightened to death, she found it getting hard to be scared of someone with such a soft and beautiful face. The boy that looked about her age had short golden hair, and chestnut colored eyes that seemed to just float into a gaze.

Sherrie stared at his face for a long awkward moment and then the clothe-less boy spoke "What’s wrong? You were never scared of me before!" He said and his eyes grew sad like a puppy.

"Wha? Who are you?!" Sherrie said backing off inch by inch.

"How could you forget? You’re the one who named me. I’m Catcher." He said casualy.

"N-No way, you’re no dog."

"Really?" He said and the bright light repeated the same routine until finally Catcher sat in the place where the boy was and then changed back into the boy. Sherrie knew that she couldn’t deny that he wasn’t Catcher at this point.

"But… what are you?"

"You’ll find out, one day or another" Catcher said with a warm smile.

"Can I ask you one more thing?" Sherrie said looking up to the night sky.

"Huh?"

"Can’t you… er- "Magically" get some clothes on or something?" Sherrie said with her face red.

"Clothes? You mean like those things you’re wearing?" Catcher tipped his head in curiosity.

"Yeah… I guess so." Sherrie said unsure.

At that Catcher’s body glowed in the same golden light and then Catcher was standing, wearing the same exact clothes as Sherrie. And of course, Sherrie found cross-dressing very amusing as she burst out laughing.

Another hour passed and Catcher finally understood the meaning of clothes and which kinds he should wear. As well as learning that, Sherrie also learned a few things about Catcher. It turned out he was 14-years-old as well, but still a few months older than Sherrie.

Sherrie was still troubled with the fact that she had no idea where she was. She missed her warm bed and her journal, but all she could do was helplessly follow Catcher to wherever he was leading her. She looked up again at the sky, it was pretty late, as she guessed. Sherrie started daydreaming, not noticing the sharp cliff turn ahead.

Just as Sherrie was getting into a deep thought, she slipped at the cliff and lost balance.

Chapter 3, End

Sherrie: Come on… not another cliffhanger!

Puchiko: Well how else can I grab the readers’ attention?

Sherrie: A tuna sandwich?

Puchiko: *Shrug* Hmm… who knows? Maybe Chapter 4 will clear things up for us next week.

Sherrie: Stay tooned!

Chapter Two

Puchiko: Doop doop de doop- Oh hello again! Welcome to Chapter 2 of The Happening Dog!

Sherrie: Is it Wednesday yet?

Puchiko: By the time they read this it will.

Sherrie: Oh so it’s on account of your laziness right?

Puchiko: No actually it’s because my computer is screwing up.

Sherrie: Oh… *cough* liar *cough*

Random Person: Uh… yeah. Now read while these idiots "fight"

Chapter 2, Golden light

‘If only things went right for me’ Sherrie thought as tears streamed down her face and onto her pillow.

Sherrie wiped her eyes. Her eyes felt swollen and hot from bitter tears. Sherrie looked around. She saw the same old things, same old everything… but then she looked to the side of her bed, where Catcher was whining and looking straight up at her. Sherrie fell of her bed and onto the opposite side of her bed in shock.

"Catcher?!" Sherrie said with her eyes widening, " How in all the-" Sherrie was cut off by a shout.

"SHERRIE? Sherrrie! I’ve lost the dog, now let’s have that talk!" Mr. Willa shouted as he began walking up the stairs to Sherrie’s room.

Sherrrie began to panic ‘Oh no!! I’d better hide Catcher someplace clever and fast before Dad sees!’ Sherrie thought and looked around her room. She spotted her bed again "Aha" Sherrie whispered and shoved Catcher under the bed. She sighed and guessed it was good enough.

Just then Mr. Willa knocked on Sherrie’s door.

With a slight crack in her voice, Sherrie said "Oh! Hold on, Let me open the door…" and then opened the door slowly.

"Okay Sherrie, we’re going to have the talk down stairs in the dining room" Mr. Willa said in a finally calm tone.

Sherrie sighed in relief, she was glad that they wouldn’t have "The Talk" in her room with Catcher making all kinds of noises.

As Sherrie and Mr. Willa walked down the stairs Mrs. Willa walked right up to Sherrie’s room to clean it "What’s this?" Mrs. Willa asked herself, spotting a few short golden bits of fur near Sherrie’s bed. Mrs. Willa followed the bits of fur under the bed and came face to face with Catcher.

Sherrie and Mr. Willa were going through "The Talk" when they were interrupted by a scream. They rushed upstairs to see what had caused Mrs. Willa’s shriek, although Sherrie already knew. Sherrie groaned.

Mr. Willa began to boil up and his face grew as red as a cherry when he saw Catcher slobbering all over Mrs. Willa "SHERRIE! HOW COULD YOU DISOBEY ME AGAIN? THAT’S IT!" Mr. Willa shouted at the top of his lungs.

"But Dad!! I have absolutely no idea how Catcher got here! I-" Sherrie said desperately, but then as another light surrounded Catcher, it traveled around Sherrie as well and cut off her voice.

Mr. Willa gasped "SHERRIE!!!" but Sherrie was far from home along with the mysterious dog named Catcher.

Chapter 2, End

Puchiko: I knew I’d finish on deadline!

Sherrie: Yeah but you left it till last minute.

Puchiko: Oh shut up, miss light envelope.

Sherrie: Wha? *Bleeeeep* ß censored

Random Person: *sigh* tune in for next week for chapter 3!

Chapter One

Puchiko: Pyoo… oh! Hello! Welcome to Chapter 1 of "The Happening Dog"

Sherrie: Ok I made you the sandwich now can we start the story?

Puchiko: Keep bugging me and I’ll delete you.

Sherrie: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Puchiko: Ok while she continues screaming you can read the story! Enjoy!

Chapter 1, Sherrie Fredrica Willa

Once opon a time in a small town in Massachusetts, there was a sad girl. She was a 14-year-old girl with short, blond hair and bright blue eyes. From her description many would say she was always happy, but this girl had no friends at all, this girl named Sherrie Fredrica Willa. It’s not like she was mean to people or people were mean to her, it was just that no one knew how to communicate with her, and she didn’t know how to either. Sherrie had no pets and her parents were barely ever home. Sherrie’s lifetime dream was to be cared for.

One rainy day in the summer, Sherrie decided to take a walk in the park nearby. From under her umbrella she could hear the raindrops falling lightly onto the umbrella, which was her favorite sound, nature. When Sherrie finally reached the park, she wasn’t surprised to find no one there. She let out a disappointed sigh and sat down under a tree where a dry bench was.

Then, from out of no where, Sherrie heard a weak whine. When Sherrie turned her head around, a Labrador retriever caught her eye. The dog’s eyes looked the same as hers, lonely.

"Now why didn’t I see you before?" Sherrie said to herself, puzzled.

Sherrie then looked at the dog closer. Right above the dog’s innocent eyes, was a darker shade of fur that seemed to form a figure, a butterfly net. Sherrie F. Willa, after finding that homeless dog, knew that it would become her first friend, her best friend.

"I want to take you home with me, but what would my parents think? They hate animals!" Sherrie said to the dog on her way home.

But, to her own surprise, she took Catcher, as she called it, home anyway.

The front door creaked open slowly. Sherrie groaned when she saw that her parents were talking in a room nearby. ‘Why, of all days, did they have to chose TODAY to be home?’ Sherrie thought in misery. She slowly walked in with the door open and Catcher in back of her.

"Ah…um… hello I’m back!" Sherrie said with her voice shaky.

"Hello Sherr- What the! Why is there a wagging tail behind you?" Sherrie’s father said, his tone growing louder.

"Uh- um- I- er- well…" Sherrie mumbled, but then Catcher ran into the house, mud tracking all over Mrs. Willa’s brand new white carpet.

"SHERRIE!" Mr. Willa shouted as the dog sat on the carpet with its head cocked to the side.

"Please Dad, please! I’ll take care of it! Just let me keep Catcher!" Sherrie said desperately.

But as quickly as Catcher ruined the carpet, Mr. Willa said, "NO! Now up to your room until we can get that dog out. Then we’ll have a talk!"

Sherrie slowly went up the stairs, with tears forming in the corner of her lonely blue eyes.

"Huh?!" Mr. Willa exclaimed as a flash of light enveloped Catcher and then vanished along with Catcher.

Chapter 1 End

Puchiko: So what didja think?

Sherrie: Am I really that weak and pitiful?

Puchiko: Te he, oh yes and things will be even worse for you, muhahaha!

Sherrie: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Puchiko: Bye folks please comment either that or make me a sandwich.

Sherrie: TUNE IN NEXT WEEK- OOOOOOOOO!!

Chapter 9: Mia's point of view

I was running away, but, i wanted to look back. So i did. Once i did, i saw a tall man. I couldn't see his face, but i felt as if i already knew who he was. Before i said anything, he embraced me. He then whispered something in my ear.

He said-

He loves me

He said he loves you, too.

I finaly realised, that as long as i remembered that he is always in my heart, then i can get through anything.

He then showed me his "Children"

It was my mommy, my sister, my friends- Everyone.
They were all smiling at me.
And then-

....I finaly smiled back

-That was the day Mia finaly found her happy ending, the day she met God-

When you never lose your smile again, it's called: THE END

Chapter 8: She's finaly back?

Mia had finaly let her mother and sister back into her heart, but now, they were no longer talking to her. Everytime the little kitten tried to comfort her family's troubles, they put on a fake smile and pretended nothing had happened. Mia had grown 1 year older, so she thought it was best she tried to work it out her self because she was old enough. She tried to sort out her feelings, so many things to sort and do. She tore her ear. She was overwelmed with work. She kept telling herself that she was old enough to do it herself, but she needed help.

Little Mia, confused and scared, tore "them" away from her heart again. She ran off, but this time she wondered if she was going to come back... TBC

(To Elena, i am glad things are starting to work out for you, next chapter is going to be your kitten.) TBC

Chapter 7: Once hurt. Twice Abandoned?

Mia ran away. Not her body, but her heart was torn from "them" and she let herself be eaten by her own sorrow and grief. After being abandoned, she was so confused about her feelings. Anger, worry, love, ect. She couldn't seem to recodnize them. Her mother and sister, didn't seem to notice her. It seemed like they hated her, and they ignored her. They had their own worries that they would leave her out of. She couldn't make the difference of reality, and a dream. She wondered if she should "test" the "dream"... TBC

Chapter 6: What he said, what he meant

Mia "lost" her father a long while ago, but he always "haunted" Mia. For the first time, in awhile, he came back. He tried his best to make her come back, even though he had hurt her a lot in an emotional way. She told him that she didn't just hurt her, but her mother and sister and a whole lot of others, which hurts her to see them hurt as well. She began to get angry. Seeing how calm he could be made her ears draw back and her hair raise up. He even had the nerve to ask for more things, like food and other supplys. He even took her sister away for a day. Mia hissed. She had enough of hearing "Gimme this, Gimme that." he even said "Can't you give me a hug?" 11 years of pain, yet he thought that 4 months was enough for little Mia to heal. Mia stomped away angerly. She could no longer stand hearing his pathetic attempts to blame others for his wrong-doings.

Mia "cried".. he told her that no one was on her side, and that he was being selfish, but he didn't care. The pain in her soul hurt her as much as daggers tearing into ones own skin. He asked for a hug again before he was about to leave. She let out her rage and said no with her eyes flaring wildly. She ran off... TBC
