Chapter 1, Sherrie Fredrica Willa
Once opon a time in a small town in Massachusetts, there was a sad girl. She was a 14-year-old girl with short, blond hair and bright blue eyes. From her description many would say she was always happy, but this girl had no friends at all, this girl named Sherrie Fredrica Willa. It’s not like she was mean to people or people were mean to her, it was just that no one knew how to communicate with her, and she didn’t know how to either. Sherrie had no pets and her parents were barely ever home. Sherrie’s lifetime dream was to be cared for.
One rainy day in the summer, Sherrie decided to take a walk in the park nearby. From under her umbrella she could hear the raindrops falling lightly onto the umbrella, which was her favorite sound, nature. When Sherrie finally reached the park, she wasn’t surprised to find no one there. She let out a disappointed sigh and sat down under a tree where a dry bench was.
Then, from out of no where, Sherrie heard a weak whine. When Sherrie turned her head around, a Labrador retriever caught her eye. The dog’s eyes looked the same as hers, lonely.
"Now why didn’t I see you before?" Sherrie said to herself, puzzled.
Sherrie then looked at the dog closer. Right above the dog’s innocent eyes, was a darker shade of fur that seemed to form a figure, a butterfly net. Sherrie F. Willa, after finding that homeless dog, knew that it would become her first friend, her best friend.
"I want to take you home with me, but what would my parents think? They hate animals!" Sherrie said to the dog on her way home.
But, to her own surprise, she took Catcher, as she called it, home anyway.
The front door creaked open slowly. Sherrie groaned when she saw that her parents were talking in a room nearby. ‘Why, of all days, did they have to chose TODAY to be home?’ Sherrie thought in misery. She slowly walked in with the door open and Catcher in back of her.
"Ah…um… hello I’m back!" Sherrie said with her voice shaky.
"Hello Sherr- What the! Why is there a wagging tail behind you?" Sherrie’s father said, his tone growing louder.
"Uh- um- I- er- well…" Sherrie mumbled, but then Catcher ran into the house, mud tracking all over Mrs. Willa’s brand new white carpet.
"SHERRIE!" Mr. Willa shouted as the dog sat on the carpet with its head cocked to the side.
"Please Dad, please! I’ll take care of it! Just let me keep Catcher!" Sherrie said desperately.
But as quickly as Catcher ruined the carpet, Mr. Willa said, "NO! Now up to your room until we can get that dog out. Then we’ll have a talk!"
Sherrie slowly went up the stairs, with tears forming in the corner of her lonely blue eyes.
"Huh?!" Mr. Willa exclaimed as a flash of light enveloped Catcher and then vanished along with Catcher.
